If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.

You can say the right thing about a product and nobody will listen. You've got to say it in a way that people will feel in their gut. Because if they don't feel it, nothing will happen.

Tue, 28 Feb 2012 13:59:00 -0800 Good, creative people are never bored http://musings.watilo.com/good-creative-people-are-never-bored http://musings.watilo.com/good-creative-people-are-never-bored

When you say, "I was so bored this weekend," you’re stating that you find the entire universe – in all its mystery, in all its explosive beauty, in all its fractal complexity –  that the entire universe bores you. Saying "I’m bored" suggests you’ve in fact seen and thought of every interesting thing in the universe, read every book, been down every street, looked into every window, talked to all 7 billion people and that until some NEW material comes along, frankly, you’re not at fault for mopin’ around the house and draggin’ your knuckles a little bit. "Sorry, but there’s nuthin’ ta DO."

I simply cannot imagine a smart person being bored, ever.

Thu, 23 Feb 2012 16:33:00 -0800 Pursue renewal of your life purpose. http://musings.watilo.com/pursue-renewal-of-your-life-purpose http://musings.watilo.com/pursue-renewal-of-your-life-purpose

Pursue renewal of your life purpose. We've learned that the language of culture tries to convince us that we should pursue success and fame, outward beauty, and the accumulation of things as means to gauge our purpose in life. But these things center on you, making you look good and feel good. God did not create humanity so it could lose itself in these false pursits. We derive our purpose in life by being rightly related to God and understanding our position before him. Only from this vantage point will life make sense.

"Love precedes life... When we time-travel back to the early days before God created Adam and Eve, when 'God's Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss,' we find our origin... We were created out of a loving community known as the Holy Trinity."

A society that puts equality ... ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom ... [A] society that puts freedom first will, as a happy byproduct, end up with both greater freedom and greater equality."

There is only one relationship that matters, and that is your personal relationship to a personal Redeemer and Lord. Let everything else go, but maintain that at all cost, and God will fulfill His purpose through your life.

Who am I and where am I going
What kind of fruit are my actions growing
Staring at the pages
You are staring at the pages of my life
Is my passion just to know You
Am I living this life to show You
Staring at the pages
You are staring at the pages of my life

Fri, 23 Sep 2011 15:00:00 -0700 Spiritual facades http://musings.watilo.com/spiritual-facades http://musings.watilo.com/spiritual-facades

There is a deeper portion of our being that we rarely allow others to see. Call it a soul maybe, this is the place that holds the most value. All else can drift but this. When this dies our body has no meaning. We handle this portion of our being with extreme care. Life tears at us and scars us as children so we adopt facades and masks to hide this part of us, to keep this sacred part of ourselves from the pain. And yet, we long to communicate this deeper place ... to connect with each other on this spiritual level, for we know that this is the only part of us that will last.
